High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Requires knowledge of JHHS and JHU billing policies, as well as, the policies and procedures of HCFA, Medicaid, and third party insurers. Maintains knowledge of changing regulations and legislation that affect Radiation Oncology billing procedures. Knowledge of Radiation Oncology billing, collection regulations, and documentation requirements for the department's treatment planning and delivery-related to Radiation Oncology procedures. Requires knowledge of JHHS and JHU contracts with payors and the associated changes in procedures and billing. Requires knowledge of medical terminology and complete familiarity with Radiation Oncology-specific charts, forms and documentation.
Requires excellent communication skills. Ability to verbalize complex financial information and clinical treatment plans to a variety of professional staff and patients, internal and external to JHHS. Analytical ability to resolve billing and documentation problems with both payors and patients. Interpersonal skills necessary to successfully interact with patients under stress, payors, JHHS management and clinical staff. Self-motivated with ability to set priorities and manage time in a busy environment.
D. Work Experience:
Minimum one year experience in a specialty, medical, or finance/billing environment required. Previous experience in Radiation Oncology is strongly preferred.
PROBLEM SOLVING:Analytical ability required to gather, quantify, and make decisions on problems and recommend solutions. Information Management:Must be able to select pertinent clinical data from various data systems and patient records in order to coordinate compliance and quality assurance processes.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in an office environment where there are limited physical discomforts due to temperature, noise, dust, and the like.
